Our journey to Penang started very early on Friday morning. As early as 6am! After Ben picked us up from PJ, we went straight to our first food adventure. Yes, we were going to have a prelude of food feasting even before we land oursleves in Penang.
Usually travellers (like us) will make a pit stop at Ipoh for a quick bite of Ipoh delicacies. It was great to be back at my hometown; after an unforgivable absence of almost 2 years. We were going to Ipoh old town for some delicious Ipoh food; especially anything to do with "Kuey Teow".
Me dearest mom had earlier agreed to meet us at Ipoh and take us around for food. Our arrival was full of anticipation and eagerness. Besically because of:
No.1 - We were extremely too hungry.
No2. - Our holiday mood was getting too exciting
No.3 - I couldn't believe that I was finally on holiday!

The adventure didn't stop at one makan place. We had to venture into another authentic kopitiam for Hainanese Roti Bakar with kaya and butter, perfectly boiled half boiled eggs and Teh Ais. It was like a blast from the past!

After whole eating adventure at Ipoh. we bid farewell to my mom and we were on our way to Penang Island! Took us about another 2 hours and as we navigating through Butterworth, I suggested that we go to Penang the "old fashion way". And that is by ferry! I could still remember the vivid image of me hopping into a ferry to Penang before the Penang bridge was erected. I was just a small kid. The whole experience suddenly become so exciting.

At last we found a signboard leading us into the ferries. 
Into the belly of the beast! Well, actually we were driving into the ferry itself. Price for a ferry ride : RM7.70 per motorcar. By the way, the ferries are blue now instead of yellow.
A quick Kodak moment is very important in our holiday. So there is no escape of getting everyone in the photos.

We got off the ferry after a 15 minutes ride and drove straight to our hotel at Tanjung Bungah. Our holiday packing looks extremely strange cause for only 3 days, we look like refuges than holiday-goers!

The first thing I did the moment we checked into our rooms. Is to look out at our beach view. We screwed our earlier initial plan to go the gym cause I decided to.....
Transform myself into Robin and call for a change of plans to opt for a "baking" session at the beach! Thanks Karen for lending me your bikini top. Sorry for mutilating it though!.... :P
We all quickly changed to our sexy swimwear and headed to the beach in a jiffy. The best part is, we had the whole beach to ourselves! (almost). There wasn't a huge crowd around.
I was told that the hotel is almost fully booked because of a bigger group of people who were in for a conference. Thank goodness. They will be in ballrooms most of the time and we have quiet time to ourselves at the beach. Just see how relaxed we are!

As when the beach wasn't enough for the 4 of us; we mad a splash at the hotel's swimming pool!
We were as giddy as little kids on our first swim in a pool.
We are just constant posers. Anywhere and everywhere imaginable.

The jacuzzi was an incredible and relaxing experience. You can tell form their faces. Too bad it wasn't hot water.
Next up, we finally had Tommy and Nicole join us at beautiful Penang. They came from KL as well, but took a later trip; skipping all the prelude eating at Ipoh. Tommy + Nicole was so hungry from the tireness of driving, where else the remaining rascals were hungry because we burned every imaginable calorie during our pool outing.
So we headed off to McCalister Road for hawker food. The drive from our hotel is only about 10-15 minutes.

Chee Cheong Fun again! But this time with thick prawn paste and chili sauce. It was just an amazing RM1.60 per plate! Tell me where can you find prices like this in KL? This is so good we ordered another plate.

Penang Char Kueh Teow. Wasn't the famous one but equally good enough for our taste buds. This one comes with lap cheong! Hmmmmm.....sedap, sedap, sedap.....

And here is the end of Day 1 activities. But honestly, Day 1 didn't end like this. We continued our adventures at Gurney Drive! I dare not blog about it. I'm too hungry now to talk about food...
